Support your fertility with personalized pelvic floor physical therapy

Pelvic floor physical therapy isn't just for after the baby arrives. For those trying to conceive, with or without assisted reproductive technology, a well-functioning pelvic floor and optimal blood flow and movement of pelvic organs can make a meaningful difference. We're here to support that journey from the very beginning.

The connection between your pelvic floor and fertility

This is just anatomy. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, connective tissue, and nerves that directly support your uterus, ovaries, and bladder. When there's dysfunction in that system, the effects ripple outward.

We work with people who are trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IUI or IVF, navigating unexplained infertility, or simply wanting to give their bodies the best possible foundation before pregnancy begins.

Your pelvic floor is the neighborhood where conception, implantation & pregnancy happen.

When things aren't working the way they should, it can quietly affect your fertility journey. Pelvic floor PT helps optimize fertility by addressing::

  • Abdominal and pelvic tension + pain with sex: Hypertonicity (an overly tight pelvic floor) can make intercourse painful, which creates a barrier to conception. We specialize in releasing this tension gently and effectively.

  • Circulation & blood flow: Optimal blood flow to the uterus and ovaries supports healthy organs. Pelvic PT techniques, including soft tissue work and targeted movement, help restore healthy circulation in the pelvis.

  • Nervous system regulation: Chronic stress can keep the nervous system in overdrive and contribute to holding patterns in the body. Our care includes breath work and nervous system support, not just exercises.

  • IVF & IUI preparation: Research suggests that pelvic PT before embryo transfer may support implantation by improving uterine receptivity and reducing tension. We work in coordination with your fertility team to time care appropriately.

  • Endometriosis & pelvic floor dysfunction: Endometriosis affects fertility in multiple ways, and pelvic floor dysfunction is common alongside it. We work with complex pelvic presentations to create individualized treatment plans to suit your needs.

What a fertility-focused pelvic PT visit looks like:

We know that when you're already navigating appointments, protocols, and a hundred different opinions, adding another provider to the mix can feel like a lot. Here's what you can expect from us.

  • Your initial visit starts with us listening and asking questions. We want to understand your full history — your cycle, your symptoms, your reproductive journey, your goals. All of our care plans are created on an individualized basis, and understanding your circumstances helps us create the most effective plan.

  • We assess posture, breathing, hip and spinal mobility, and with your consent, internal pelvic floor function.

Everything is explained before we do it. You are in control of your care at every step. You always get to choose what you are and aren’t comfortable with.

  • We won’t hand you a generic home exercise program and send you on your way. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what we found, what it means for your fertility goals, and exactly what we're going to do about it over the coming weeks.

We might be the right fit if..

  • You're trying to conceive and want to optimize your body's readiness

  • You experience painful periods, pain with sex, or pelvic pressure

  • You've been diagnosed with endometriosis, PCOS, or "unexplained infertility"

  • You're preparing for IVF or IUI and want to support implantation

  • You've had a previous pregnancy loss and want intentional support before trying again

  • You feel like something is "off" in your pelvis and no one has been able to tell you why

  • Your fertility team suggested pelvic PT and you want someone who actually gets it

  • You're simply ready to feel more connected to and confident in your body

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does pelvic floor PT actually help with fertility?

There's growing evidence supporting the role pelvic PT plays in fertility optimization. We don’t promise a magic fix, but for many, addressing pelvic floor dysfunction, improving circulation, reducing tension, and supporting nervous system regulation can meaningfully improve the conditions for conception.

Some are better candidates for PT than others - part of our initial exam is determining whether this is the right fit or whether there’s somewhere to focus on first.

  • Anytime throughout your menstrual cycle is a good time to begin , but if you're in an IVF cycle, timing matters more. We'll talk through your protocol and coordinate with your clinic to make sure we're supporting your process, not adding friction to it. We will not work with folks who have a transfer within 48 hours or who are within their 2 week wait following a transfer.

For women trying to conceive naturally, we can start at any point in your cycle and adjust our approach based on where you are each week.

  • Never. Consent is foundational to everything we do. We can learn a lot from external assessment of your posture, breathing, hip mobility, soft tissue tension around the pelvic, and we'll always discuss what's indicated before proceeding with anything internal. You decide what you're comfortable with, every session.

  • "Unexplained infertility" is one of the most frustrating diagnoses to receive because it doesn't actually tell you much. Pelvic PT can help identify and address physical factors, like pelvic floor tension, fascial restrictions, or circulation issues, that often go unassessed in a traditional fertility workup.

  • It’s entirely dependent on your circumstances and exam, however for many folks we recommend a minimum of 3 months sessions weekly to every other week in order to see meaningful change.

Some feel significant change in just a few sessions; others benefit from ongoing care throughout their conception journey.

  • Our goal is to empower you to live your healthiest and most confident life. Our patients often leave feeling relieved as a result of understanding things about their body that maybe haven’t made sense to them in years.

Treatment involves a combination of manual therapy, or hands on work done during sessions, exercises you work on between visits and slow, sustainable habit modifications as needed.
